Hi Debbie,
It was my pleasure to speak to your DUMC group and thank you for your nice comments.

Regarding your question ... first, it is great that you have had a few calls. Most people hit hundreds of help wanted ads but with no response.

But in order to increase your responses you need to hit more companies. For my speaking groups and Jayobi, I recommend contacting at least 250 -- when I am actually working with job seekers directly, we normally hit 500-800!

Normal response rates are 1-2%. So, if you are only hitting 175 companies = 1-3 calls. If you hit 250 = 2-5 calls, 500 = 5-10 calls, etc. It becomes a "numbers game" and the more contacts you make the more returns you get.

You are on the right track and doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Hi Doug:

I recently saw your presentation at the DUMC meeting in Davidson, NC and was impressed with your strategy in finding employment. With your suggested approach I I research companies found appropriate contacts.. I am looking for a National Account Management opportunities and choice to contact VP of Sales. Unfortunately, I only received a few phone calls after sending 175 letters. My resume and business portfolio are shown on linkedin. Possibly you can offer me some suggestions that would improve my results.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate your time in speaking with the DUMC group.

Sincerely,

Debbie

i'm frequently jumping all across the online world virtually all of the night therefore I tend to read a great deal, which is not generally a beneficial matter as the largest part of the sites I view are composed of unnecessary crap copied from different internet websites a million times, but I'll hand it to ya this site is honestly enjoyable and offers a bit of genuine substance, therefore thanks for breaking up the phenomena of merely copying other peoples' blogs :)

First, I'd like to congratulate you on the website. And second, not to speak in hyperbole or to over exaggerate the point, but my thoughts echo much of what others have commented as well, namely, to thank you for the wealth of information that you have offered everyone in your videos. I can confidently say without a doubt that I have gained greater knowledge, and appreciation about the job search process from watching your videos than I have from any other article or website/blog on the Internet. So THANK YOU for this kindhearted of making your videos available to the public both willingly and at no cost--I appreciate it.
