I am very thankful to this topic because it really gives up to date information
Hi,
Your advice is great. However, my library has had their budget cut, thus does not have access to a resource such as yours. They only have Hoovers, Morningstar and Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage. It does not appear that I can just simply plug in my parameters and bring up a list like you did. Also, my local library has gotten rid of alot of their directories and whatever they do have is outdated. I am registered nurse within the Philadelphia area looking for a job here. Do you have any other suggestions for resources on Idenifying potential employers? Thanks for your time. I appreciate it!
Hi Bren,
Thank you for your compliment – I appreciate it very much! To answer your question … you may want to check out other (free) online services such as Manta and Jigsaw. However, if none of the directories you are using allow you to plug in parameters there are other ways to use them. As a Registered Nurse, I would assume you are interested in Hospitals (SIC = 8062), Clinics & Doctors (SIC = 8011) as your target “industries.” Many of these directories group the organizations by SIC codes. If so, use the SIC’s I have listed above to compile your research.
Another alternative is to go directly to the Librarian at your local library and ask — they LOVE to help and should be able to very quickly put reference materials in your hands.
I wish you the best!
Okay, thanks! I’ll give that a try.
Wow! This is amazing. I didn’t know how to get the names of these types of contacts. Thanks for showing me how.
Leslie,
Most people don’t realize how easy it is to get the actual names of hiring manager contacts instead of contacting the human resources (the gatekeepers). I am glad this helped you.
